What is Teleport?
Teleport is a tool that allows anyone to create highly realistic 3D models of real-world environments with just an iPhone. Teleport utilizes advanced Gaussian Splatting technology to reconstruct spaces with remarkable detail and photorealistic accuracy. This technology enables smooth, visually accurate renderings of complex environments by representing the scene with clusters of Gaussian Splats, effectively capturing subtle lighting, shading, reflections, and depth without the limitations of traditional polygonal meshes.
The process begins with a simple scan of the desired location using the Teleport app on a compatible iPhone. Once the environment is captured, the data is securely uploaded to Varjo's cloud platform, where Gaussian Splatting algorithms process it into a 3D model. This automated process accurately reproduces the nuances of the physical environment, creating a digital twin that can be viewed on desktop devices or fully explored in virtual reality (VR) headsets.
Upon completion, the 3D model is stored in an online library, accessible for viewing or immersive exploration. Teleport supports various VR devices, including Varjo headsets, enabling users to navigate these virtual spaces seamlessly. This solution simplifies the creation of photorealistic virtual environments, making it an intuitive, versatile tool for anyone looking to digitally capture and experience real-world spaces.
